BREAKING NEWS: Real Madrid tell Manchester United They Can Sign 24-year-Old For £53.5 Million

Manchester United are thought to be keen admirers of the Real Madrid ace.

According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Real Madrid have told Manchester United that they can sign Raphaël Varane in the summer for €60 million (£53.5 million).

The 24-year-old is widely considered to be one of the finest centre-backs in world football, but amazingly, he is still not a first-team regular at the Santiago Bernabeu, and has made just 19 league starts this season.

Varane joined Los Blancos from Lens in the summer of 2011, for a fee believed to be in the region of £8.9 million, and his stock within the game has risen considerably since then,

Don Balon claim that Varane has been deemed surplus to requirements in the Spanish capital, and that Madrid have told the Red Devils that they can sign him for £53.5 million in the summer.

Good signing for United?

Mourinho is a big fan of the France international, having signed him for Madrid during his time in charge at the Bernabeu.

He is a cool and composed centre-half, and commands the back-line with a certain sense of authority that United sometimes lack.

Varane would be a superb signing for the Red Devils, and for the price of £53.5 million, he would be a real steal in what is a ludicrously inflated transfer market.
