Jamie Redknapp Names the Signing Man United Must Make this Summer to Strengthen Defence (SEE FULL LIST)

Jamie Redknapp says Man United need to strengthen in defence in the summer transfer window

Jamie Redknapp believes that Manchester United need to sign a new central defender in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have been spending big since Jose Mourinho’s appointment at Old Trafford back in 2016 and they continued their splashing of the cash with a move to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal last week.

Manchester United have also brought in the likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku in big-money deals as they look to try and win the Premier League title.

Redknapp has been impressed by Manchester United’s recent spending in the transfer market but the former Liverpool FC star also feels that the Red Devils need to bolster their defensive options soon as well.

Speaking to Sky Sports News on Wednesday, Redknapp said: “They’ll be very strong [next season], they’re just trying to compete against Manchester City at the moment, that’s the problem for everybody.

Speaking to Sky Sports News on Wednesday, Redknapp said: “They’ll be very strong [next season], they’re just trying to compete against Manchester City at the moment, that’s the problem for everybody.

“I still feel Man United will try and get another central defender in, in the summer.”

Manchester United were thoroughly out-played as they lost 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Wednesday night in the Premier League.

That result left them second in the table but 15 points behind leaders Manchester City.

The Red Devils will now try and look to get back to winning ways when they take on Huddersfield Town in front of their home fans at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester United finished sixth but won both the League Cup and Europa League under Mourinho last term.
