QPR have said that is unlikely to happen, yet he struggled to make much of an impression on the first team in his 12 months at Loftus Road before the loan move.
This appears to be a case of Goss finally having the opportunity to realise his potential a year after leaving Manchester United in search of first-team opportunities.
It is a remarkable turnaround for a player who, in August, was linked with a loan move to League Two and Yeovil Town - a near return to his roots at Exeter City.
Some fans were disappointed to see Goss leave Old Trafford after stringing a number of impressive under-23 performances together, with some seeing him as the next Michael Carrick.
United's decision to let him leave was perhaps vindicated by his lack of first-team appearances at Loftus Road and the Scottish Premiership is a much lower-level than the Premier League.
Yet Goss appears to be getting better and better at Ibrox, scoring in last night's 4-1 win over St Johnstone, and he has taken to this level of football like a duck to water.
United themselves have struggled in the midfield in recent times, with Paul Pogba going through a poor period of form along with Nemanja Matic.
This has led to young midfielder Scott McTominay being given a chance and the 21-year-old has impressed, stringing a number of solid performances together.
By all accounts, Goss outperformed his former teammate at a youth level, but grew tired of waiting for a first-team chance. At Ibrox, Goss is now demonstrating the sort of form that perhaps indicates United let him go too early.
